On July 14, KCC hosted the inaugural Robotics Technology Exchange Seminar at its R&D center located in Giheung-gu, Yongin-si, South Korea. The event brought together the research team led by Professor Park Yongrae from the Robotics Research Institute of Seoul National University, alongside researchers and technical specialists from both parties. Roughly 20 attendees participated in the seminar, where the latest research findings and technical expertise regarding silicone materials for robotics were shared.

Key discussion topics covered silicone polymer compounding technology. By optimizing polymer formulas for targeted applications, this technology enables customized material properties such as elasticity, mechanical strength and durability. Another focal point centered on the application of silicone materials in soft actuators. Soft actuators are flexible driving systems that mimic the contraction and relaxation of human muscles to generate motion.

The robotics industry is rapidly advancing from experimental research toward large-scale commercial and industrial adoption. Public enthusiasm for robotics has also surged markedly, as exemplified by recent showcases including humanoid robots delivering match balls during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Meanwhile, automakers and automotive suppliers worldwide are vigorously establishing supply chains for robotic components and advanced materials. As robotic systems grow increasingly sophisticated, material performance has become ever more critical, especially for parts that come into direct contact with humans or external surroundings.
